Preparing for a Home Visit : V 4
Easier said then done but preparing helps with working smarter and not harder when you do it the right way.
There are a few things we should do before every home visit to minimize time wasters or mistakes on our part. First thing you should be doing:
Gather everything you need prior to the home visit.
It doesn't matter what program your a part of, you should alway pre-pack what you need to bring. Almost always do you need identification, a brochure of your program, consent forms, educational materials and anything else the patient may need to sign or review for you. Ideally you want to carry 3 copies of each but if there are too many documents then 2 is a must. This covers you just in case anything happens to 1 of the copies.
Check the date, the location and the weather beforehand. This makes sure you do not go to the wrong house, on the wrong date, without an umbrella on a rainy day where the papers got wet!
